PwC today announced the appointment of Margaret Cole as General Counsel of the PwC UK network firm.
Margaret Cole will be a member of PwC UK’s Executive Board with responsibility for the Office of General Counsel. Margaret will take over from Owen Jonathan, current General Counsel and Executive Board member, when he retires from the firm in December 2012. Margaret will join PwC from the FSA, where she was the former managing director of enforcement and financial crime, the first managing director of the conduct business unit and a member of the board.
Ian Powell, PwC’s Chairman and Senior Partner, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Margaret to PwC. The complexity of current and proposed legislation affecting PwC and our clients requires a General Counsel with extensive experience, expertise and judgement. Margaret has demonstrated these qualities in her career to date in public and private practice, and at the most senior level at the heart of financial services regulation. Margaret will bring a new perspective to the firm and will make a significant contribution to our network.
“I would also like to place on record my thanks for the great contribution Owen Jonathan has made to the firm over the last decade. I’m personally immensely grateful to him for his support."
Margaret Cole, commented, “I’m extremely pleased to be joining the leading professional services firm. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with a great team of people in such a dynamic and complex international business environment at a key time in its development.”
Margaret will join PwC in Autumn 2012 following a period of gardening leave from the FSA.
