I've noticed in the papers recently that there are some new rules for planning permissions.
We want to alter the loft into a big bedroom with bathroom, when we move into the new house we about to complete on. Does this mean that we don't need to go through the planning process?

Hi BrainYou normally don't need Planning Permission to convert a loft - only Building Regulations approval.
You will need Planning Approval if the conversion involves raising the roof or putting dormer windows in the front slope.
If you are in a Conservation Area or a Historic Building additional rules apply
