Are gilts still a good investment?

It seems like gilts market is very uncertain and I'm concerned that the market might get flooded with gilts being issued for the rest of this year and maybe next? Are there better countries to look at who also have debt, but might be better propositions? Any thoughts appreciated, all

The US is issuing billions of dollars, as are other debt ridden countries of their own, but their economies seems equally risky. However I do like gilts as part of my overall portfolio for the medium to longer term.
