I'm planning to move my business offshore to make my business as tax efficient as possible.
I obviously want to keep everything above board. My initial thoughts are that I will set up a Company in a BVI this company will be the director of my UK company. If the BVI company is then owned by a trust, and i would be the beneficiary of that trust.
Does this seem a sensible way to go? Does anybody have any similar experiences in this area? I assume repatriation of any funds moved offshore would be subject to 40% tax.

possibly look into Lichtenstein, northern Cyprus and of course everyone's favorite Switzerland. There are plenty of companies that offer you assistance in moving offshore but the advice of a good account would be wise.
