Warren Tonkinson has been appointed Global Head of Distribution at Skandia Investment Group and OMAM (UK) following the decision by Old Mutual Group to merge the two asset management businesses.
The new business - which is going through the merger process and has yet to be named - is headed by OMAM (UK) CEO Julian Ide. Tonkinson has over 17 years of retail and wholesale sales experience, spending 13 years working in the asset management industry. He therefore brings considerable experience to the new role. Before joining the new business, he spent nearly 10 years at UBS Global Asset Management where he was most recently Managing Director and before that in a variety of roles at Fidelity and Prudential.
CEO Julian Ide said, "We are determined to attract quality individuals to enable to grow what will be a successful asset management business. Warren has the range of expertise and talent to help on this journey, so I very much welcome his appointment."
Tonkinson said, "I believe there is a tremendous opportunity given its size, scale and presence of this new business in the UK and international markets. The business has significant strength in a number of areas but particularly its investment solutions as well its in-house and outsourced single strategy funds. We have a strong and evolving range of products, therefore I'm naturally pleased to be leading the sales effort for the new business."
