I hope someone can help with us on this as it's worrying my gran a lot
She recently received letters from a company asking a person of the same surname as her (but different first name) to get in contact with them about an investigation. She then contacted me to ask about it for help. I just said its probably a scam of sorts and to forget it.
But yesterday she got a letter from a debt recovery company saying there is a debt to the same person and the usual about bailiffs - which has terrified my gran and she is worried about credit rating and any other block/blacklists etc.
Is there anything she can do or should do, or do we just leave it and ignore as a hoax/scam?

They just don't seem to care who they effect and how and it always seems to be those who are most vulnerable that get these sort of letters. My only experience (a few years ago) was being chased by a company who said I had bought a european directory of companies for 150 euros (3 chase letters with last one saying they would take me to court) needless to say you can guess what my response was....
Karen Walker answered 3 Years ago at 14:31, last modified: 2 Years ago at 14:56Again, on a personal note, I would tend to agree with the above replies and expect it to be a scam/hoax of some sort. However, if you and your gran wish to check her credit report www.experian.co.uk may help to aleviate some worries. I hope that helps.
